How to Write a Good Admission Essay

October 20th, 2009 No comments

You are working hard to keep your grades up and your activities demonstrative of a professional interested in succeeding in the college world. Now you have to write your admission essay, a good admission essay. You know it is important – you know it can mean a yes or no; however, that is exactly the problem. You are too worried.

Sit down and say to yourself – I am writing myself a note; or I am writing a note to my great, great, great grandparents so they will know whom I am. This may seem silly; however, it will help a lot. You should pretend that you could send the note back in time to thank you ancestors for who you became. This letter, it is not going to be read by anyone but your relatives and you want your relatives to be very proud of you. You should write something that has happened that demonstrates the great genetics and great success that you have inherited from the amazing people who pioneered the successes that lead to your existence.

Consider something that is important to you, but something that you have done or been a part of that demonstrates your priorities. This is important, because you cannot send a book back in time – only a page or two. In that page, you want your ancestors to know that they have great children in the future. Highlighting a great event in your life will do this. Consider a time you helped another person succeed, or a time you contributed to a great project in school. Describe the situation using your own words and how it made you a better person. When you are done, change the letter in only one way – make it address read the people’s names that you need for your admissions essay.

You will need to define your topic – do this by writing a single paragraph that describes the purpose of your college research paper. Now, write a paragraph defining your good idea for the paper. Then write a paragraph that clearly defines the topic itself. Every good college research paper will allow the audience to be fully aware of the topic they are developing. Even if your audience may know basically, what the topic is, you must make certain the audience is fully aware of the intrinsic points of the topic itself.

Additionally, your good college research paper must use reliable research that is fully documented in your report. You can do this a number of ways based on in-text citation and reference rules assigned by your school. However, be certain that you do use the right number of sources and use the proper formatting of information to avoid losing unnecessary points on plagiarism from errors.

Another consideration when writing a good college research paper is that your paper must flow – move from one idea to the next with good form. You may wish to do this through a clearly defined outline that assists you with staying on-track. This does not mean that you will have to rewrite sections if you get distracted, you can simply move those sections to where they belong.

Finally, your college research paper will be successful if you work on it and review it with enough time to edit it for your instructor. When you edit your paper, review the rubric or grading criteria to be certain you did not miss anything important.

Marie Josephe Jeanne Antoinette was born on 2nd November 1795 in Vienna, Austria to the emperor Joseph and empress Maria Therese. Her mother was a very powerful woman, who had about 15 children in total.

In 1770, when she was only fourteen, Marie was married off to the French Dauphin (heir to the throne). Before she was married, Marie had to say goodbye to her parents and siblings, some of whom she would never see again, and travel to the Austrian/French border. It was here, in a tent on a platform situated in the middle of the River Rhine, that she was forced to strip off all her clothes and pass through the tent to France. They were married and Marie later gave birth to three children.

In 1774 her husband became King Louis XVI and she became Queen of France. The personalities of the two rulers were very different; Louis was phlegmatic and withdrawn, whilst Marie was happy, frivolous and imprudent in her actions and choice of friends. Read more…

How to Write a Good School Essay

Writing a good school essay requires that you develop your topic sentence using research that is easily duplicated by other writers or the reader. For example, use information from sources such as your school’s library or online sources approved by your instructor. Some schools do not allow sources such as Wikipedia, and other schools allow you to use that source as a starting point, but not as an academic source. Your topic must begin somewhere that defines your topic and sets you on the right path for writing your good school essay.

As you consider your essay topic sentence, ask yourself what your reader may want to know about the topic. Ask yourself if your reader may already know some of the necessary information, or should you provide some simplified definitions of the terms you are using. For example, if you decide to write about compassion fatigue, define the context you will use it – what field will you demonstrate this in – did you know that compassion fatigue is commonplace in nursing, call centers, and many customer-facing positions? Even servers in restaurants may experience this problem.

After you have defined your school essay or college essay topic and discovered what you would like to share with your reader, carefully outline your primary points. Each point should be part of a single paragraph – preceded by an introductory paragraph and followed by a conclusion paragraph that summarizes the points. Your good school essay can be completed quickly if you address each point individually before writing the introduction and conclusion. After you have written the essay, set it aside for at least a few hours before you try to edit it, this will give you a chance to take a “fresh” look and will assist you in finding any errors. Now you certainly know how to write a good school essay paper.
